Members of the SC State Firefighters’ Association will have preference over non-members when registering for classes.

Program Selection:
The programs are laid out in such a way to allow a student to register for a 3-day class (Thurs-Sat) or two 2-day classes (Thurs-Fri and Sat-Sun) if desired. Student must meet prerequisites at time of registration.
1-Day Programs
Prerequisites: None
Saturday 1-Day Special Program
- Lithium-Ion Battery Fire Response (Jan 20)
2-Day Programs
Prerequisites: *Hook up and Stretch - FFI , * Grain Bin Rescue - Proficient with vehicle stabilization and victim extrication techniques, *Basic Shoring - FF2, *Winning on the Fireground - FFI, *Make the Grab - FFI, *Farm Medic - Proficient with vehicle stabilization and victim extrication techniques, and *School Bus Extrication - Proficient with vehicle stabilization and victim extrication techniques.
If taking a Thursday-Friday 2-Day Program, select only one
- Hook up and Stretch: High-Rise and Mid-Rise Operations HOT (Jan 18-19)
- Grain Bin Rescue (Jan 18-19)
- Basic Shoring for the Initial Engine Company (Jan 18-19)

If taking a Saturday - Sunday 2-Day Program, select only one
- Winning on the Fireground: Limited Staffing (Jan 20-21)
- Farm Medic (Jan 20-21)
- Make The Grab: Creating Aggressive Search Culture (Jan 20-21)
- School Bus Extrication (Jan 20-21)

3-Day Programs
Prerequisites: *Hand in Hand Engine - Firefighter I, *Truck Company School - Firefighter I, *Effective Command Process - Responsibility to command incidents within your department.
If taking a 3-day program, select one.

By consenting to this agreement, I agree that I have met all prerequisites of the selected courses. If verification reveals the student does not meet required prerequisites, the student will be removed from the class and notified.

I acknowledge that I have read and understand the following Release: and that I am at least 18 years of age and fully competent and a member of a legally organized fire department, fire brigade, fire related business or emergency response organization.
In consideration for participating in South Carolina State Firefighters’ Association training, I hereby release, indemnify, and covenant not to sue the South Carolina State Firefighters’ Association, agents or employees (Releasees), the Lexington County Fire Service, their officers, agents and employees (Releases), and the Columbia Fire Department, their officers, agents and employees (Releases), as well as any other students or instructors from any and all liability, claims, cost and causes of action arising out of or related to any property damage or personal injury, including death, that may be sustained by me, while participating in such activity, or while on the premises owned, leased or used by Releasees. I acknowledge the training involves physically strenuous activities in which I am capable of fully participating. I know of no physical or mental condition that would preclude my full participation in the training.

I understand that the South Carolina State Firefighters’ Association, Lexington County Fire Service, and Columbia Fire Department are not authorized to provide travel, medical, or health insurance, I verify that I or my agency maintain appropriate and necessary coverage, and I understand that I or my agency will be responsible for any medical expenses that I may incur as a result of my participation in this program.

I understand that the nature of the tasks I may perform while involved in this training may require a high degree of physical fitness, agility, and dexterity, and that this may include rigorous exercises which require physical fitness, strength, and stamina. I am fully aware of the risks and hazards associated with fire, rescue, and hazardous materials training, including but not limited to burns, heat stroke, heart attack, heat exhaustion, falls and other related injuries, and I choose to voluntarily participate in the activity with full knowledge that said activity may be hazardous to me and my property.
